Halberstadt - the gateway to the Harz! A quiet little town on the edge of central Germany's highest elevation - the Brocken. From here you can discover great things, commute to work or just let your mind wander. Take a little time and discover the historic old town with its half-timbered houses or take trips to Wernigerode and Quedlinburg.
Excursion destinations in Halberstadt
The recreational area "Spiegelsberge". This can be reached on a walk in just 1.89 km. Very popular there is the visit to the Tiergarten. In the hunting lodge is the oldest and of about 144,000 liters largest preserved wine barrel (Guinness Book of Records). The 22 m high Bismarckturm is located west on the edge of the Spiegelsberge.
The leisure and sports center at the Sommerbad invites you to sweat in the popular Sanalandschaft and offers the sports enthusiasts many opportunities, such as tennis, squash, badminton and climbing. From May to September our Halberstädter lake awaits its guests and is very popular for swimming in the open air.

The popular St. James Pilgrimage connects the Halberstadt Cathedral with the Huysburg Monastery. The St. Jakobus pilgrimage route through Saxony-Anhalt runs for about 370 kilometers. Here invite 22 Protestant and Catholic churches on the way to prayer and silence.
Other destinations include the half-timbered town of Osterwieck, the Romanesque moated castle of Westerburg, as well as the motorsport arena in Oschersleben. The lovely villages in the area invite to explorations, z. B. Langenstein with his cave dwellings.
